About Woodcrest School
Letter from Principal Philosophy, Goals and Objectives Character Education

School Philosophy

Our philosophy is that all children are naturally curious, enthusiastic, ambitious, creative and eager to acquire new experiences and knowledge. It is our responsibility as educators to foster these feelings, and in doing so, to provide an educational experience to maximize each child's potential. At Woodcrest Elementary School, we emphasize a well-rounded curriculum for our students in which special subject classes complement and enrich our academic program. Our philosophy is that all children's needs must be addressed academically, socially, and physically. We strive to consider the whole child while providing a nurturing learning environment.

Our Goals Are:
  1. To provide our students with a warm atmosphere in which a comprehensive scholastic program of fundamental education can be given.
  2. To provide a continuity of education from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.
  3. To provide a variety of educational materials to enhance our curriculum.
  4. To have administration, faculty, staff, and parents and students interchange, so that the educational philosophy of Woodcrest may be implemented to its fullest.
  5. To provide an education that is cognizant of the changing demands of our society.
  6. To provide the opportunity for each student to grow academically and socially in order to successfully enter middle school.

Our Objectives Are:
  1. To recognize and nurture the academic individuality and potential of each student.
  2. To utilize a curriculum that will meet the stated goals and philosophy of Woodcrest Elementary School.
  3. To provide activities, both during and after school hours, that will aid in the development of students' physical, social and academic growth.
  4. To encourage respect for other Woodcrest community members and an understanding and acceptance of the differences in individuals.
  5. In order to ensure the best possible environment for our students at Woodcrest Elementary School, the administration, faculty and school community will periodically review and update the philosophy, goals and objectives of our school.
