2007 SAT Results
Much has been made in the news recently about the importance of standardized testing for elementary school children. Concerns are high that children in the Los Angeles area are scoring below the national norms. We at Woodcrest School are very happy to share our most recent Stanford Achievement Test results: At Kindergarten, our students' average scores were: Total Reading performance of our Kindergarten students was at the grade level of 1st Grade plus 5 months, with the Letters and Sounds section being scored on average at 2nd Grade plus 4 months. Our Basic Battery score was 1st Grade plus 5 months. At 1st Grade, our students' average scores were: The Basic Battery performance of our first grade students was at the level of 4th Grade plus 1 month. The Total Reading and Math scores were at the 4th Grade level and 3rd Grade plus 8 months respectively. In Reading Comprehension 100% of the first grade students were "above average". Our average 1st Grade score in Language (English Grammar) was 4th Grade plus 2 months. At 2nd Grade, our students' average scores were: Total Reading performance was at the level of 5th Grade plus 3 months as well as our Total Math at 5th Grade plus 7 months. Spelling was at the 5th Grade plus 8 months level. In Reading Comprehension 100% of our students performed at "above the average". The Basic Battery score was 5th Grade plus 5 months. At 3rd Grade, our students' average scores were: Total Reading, 5th Grade plus 6 months, Total Math, 5th Grade plus 8 months, and in Language, 7th Grade plus 9 months, with a Basic Battery score of 6th Grade plus 7 months. All of our third grade students scored above the national norm in Math and in Language! At 4th Grade, our students' average scores were: Total Reading, 8th Grade plus 5 months and Total Math, 8th Grade plus 8 months, with a Basic Battery of 9th Grade plus 5 months. Our average 4th Grade score in Language (English Grammar) was 11th grade. At 5th Grade, our students' average scores were: Total Reading, 8th Grade plus 6 months, Total Math, 9th Grade plus 8 months, with a Basic Battery score of 11th Grade plus 6 months. The national percentile norm is another means of evaluating students' academic ability. The national percentile is posted at fifty percent. 98% of Woodcrest students scored above this national average. The average score of a Woodcrest student in Grades K-5 was 88% on the national percentile norm for the Basic Battery. The Basic Battery includes all subtests in Reading, Math, and Language Arts. This means that for every 100 students tested, our Woodcrest students, on the average, scored higher than 88 students out of 100.
48% of our students scored in the top 10% of the national percentile: this placed them in the 90-99% percentile. In explanation, a child scoring 95% scored higher than 95 out of every 100 students tested. rank in the top 10% of the country! |
