Valley Trails Summer Camp at Woodcrest in Tarzana, CA has provided an enriching and fun-filled camp experience for children of all ages for over 50 years. We view camp as a lot more than entertaining children while school is out for the summer. It’s a vital part of children’s development, and it is our mission to help “grow campers,” creating the next generation of thoughtful, empathetic leaders who understand the importance of community.
Continued Learning and Development During Summer
If you live in or around Tarzana, summer camp at Woodcrest is filled with unlimited opportunities to try new things, develop life skills, and grow to become a better person. School time learning is mainly devoted to learning the core curriculum and preparing for tests. During camp, we take the opportunity to expand more on developing life skills, critical thinking, communications, self-confidence, and more. While we ensure our campers are having fun, we go above and beyond to ensure they become well-rounded individuals and better people.
What Can You Expect at Woodcrest Camp?
The best summer camp experience ever! Every day at Valley Trails Summer Camp at Woodcrest is packed with individual and group activities. Campers will have the opportunity to explore through hiking trips, nature excursions, and learning yoga. High adventure trips include rock climbing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding. We’ll immerse campers in arts and crafts activities, such as tie-dyeing, woodworking, candle making, friendship bracelets, and improv. Everyone will get to participate in sports and classic camp games, including soccer, flag football, broomball, volleyball, tetherball, corn hole, capture the flag, and more. Plus, with our very own pool onsite, campers will enjoy swimming as an everyday activity.
Summer Camp for Elementary and Middle School Students
Whether your child is entering kindergarten or moving on to high school, we offer age-appropriate camp activities to help your camper grow into a strong individual. We believe in the importance of a robust community and developing healthy relationships with others, so we plan activities around those goals. Our camp starts mid-June and runs until about the second week of August. We request campers sign up for a minimum of two weeks. Programs are offered for the following age groups:
- Pathfinders – Children entering kindergarten.
- Trail Seekers – Entering first and second grade.
- Trail Blazers – Entering third, fourth, and fifth grade.
- Tweens on the Move – Entering sixth, seventh, and eighth grade.
- Campers in Leadership Training (CILTs) – Entering ninth and tenth grade.

Does your camper have a special interest, or are they curious about trying something new? We offer a few programs designed to take a deeper dive for campers who want to explore some activities further. We also offer afternoon sessions for parents that need extra time for child pickup.
